Game of Thrones. Loyal devotees of George R.R.'s epic fantasy series Martin have been on hold for over a decade since the release of the last novel, A Dance with Dragons, in 2011, and the author has pushed back the next book's release date ever since.

7 The Winds of Winter (Book 6)

And that brings us to the long-awaited sixth book.

The Winds of Winter. More than a decade later, there is still no confirmed date on the calendar for The Winds of Winter, but Martin provided a somewhat encouraging update in June 2022. "Still working," Martin wrote on his blog. 

"Finally finished a bunch of Cersei's classes that were giving me fits. Now I'm fighting Jaime and Brienne. Work continues, though not as quickly as many of you would like."
